In conjunction with Singapore's National Day celebration this August 21 and to mark Singapore’s 56 years of independence on 9 August, Andrea’s Creative Studio (ACS) pays a heartfelt tribute to Singapore’s resilient sellers and cultural crafts through the launch of three bespoke gift items.

Nanako Traditional Tableware Travel Wrap Pouch (S$24.90)
Fondly named Nanako which means ‘red apple child’ in Japanese, each pouch comes with a pair of Moso bamboo chopsticks and a wooden spoon, which are earth-friendly and food safe. The pouch they come in is traditionally handmade using premium Japanese fabric.
Peranakan Series Pouch (S: S$9.90 | L: S$12.90)
Our indigenous Peranakan series pouch is an embodiment of Singapore’s historical roots. Made using authentic Peranakan batik, each pouch’s cultural design has a tale to tell.
Hand-Knitted Hair Ties (S$8.00)
Our hand-knitted hair ties are made by a Japanese-born artisan, Nanako, using materials sourced from Japan. Nanako fostered her knitting passion from the age of 9, thanks to her older sister and still knits traditional handicrafts in her free time.
You Will Help Small Local Businesses & Sellers
The fabric & materials for all our products are sourced & in support of local, second-generation business owners, wholesalers, importers and independent sellers in Singapore’s CBD. The COVID-19 pandemic made it difficult for these local sellers to make a living. We hope our products will improve their sales and drive traffic to their stores. Ten per cent of the proceeds for each ACS gift item helps them and goes to charity.

ABOUT NANAKO
Nanako lives here with her Singaporean husband and toddler daughter (pictured left) while juggling a full-time job, family duties and being a loving mother. She knits traditional handicrafts in her free time. She loves Singapore’s food and warm weather, which is unlike the unbearably cold winters of Japan. Her favourite Singaporean dish is the Chinese pepper chicken from Hillman 99 Chinese Restaurant.
